Dell KACE launches new systems management appliance

CBR Staff Writer Published 24 May 2010

Offers IT power management capabilities and ITIL ready service desk

Dell KACE has launched new systems management appliance, which it claims to help mid-sized businesses proactively manage IT and reduce power consumption to save time and money.

According to Dell, the new K1000 Management Appliance comes with new easy-to-use capabilities that help customers configure and enforce power settings on Windows and Mac OS X systems; pre-defined reports that display energy savings which can be used to qualify for utility rebates; and service desk functionality consistent with IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) best practices that simplifies the automation of key IT processes.

In addition, the new systems management appliance introduces enhanced smart label technology that groups managed machines for easier reporting and improved automated policy-based management.

The company claims that the KACE family of systems management and deployment appliances fulfill all of the systems management requirements of a mid-market IT organisation, from initial computer deployment to ongoing management and retirement. Dell KACE products are available as both physical and virtual appliances, directly from Dell or through its partners.

Rob Meinhardt, president of Dell KACE, said: “Since becoming part of Dell, we’ve increased our global reach and are organised to bring the latest technology to customers even faster.

“The latest K1000 release delivers highly-innovative system management solutions for Windows, Linux, and Mac systems that push the envelope in enforcing power management and providing a practical ITIL service desk.”
