Oracle launches VM Release 3.2 for efficient desktop to data centre virtualisation

Provides single virtualisation management for Oracle SPARC T-Series and x86-based servers.

Oracle has launched the VM Release 3.2 which offersenhanced operational efficiency and ease-of-use.

Oracle Linux, Virtualization Engineering senior vice president, Wim Coekaerts, said that with the release of Oracle VM, Oracle continues to bring cost-of-ownership and manageability benefits to x86 and SPARC virtualisation administrators.

"The new release helps users unify and automate their environments on a larger scale to achieve the greatest efficiency from their infrastructure," Coekaerts said.

The new version supports SPARC servers and helps to create and manage Oracle VM Server for SPARC domains. This version also includes MySQL Enterprise Edition, full command-line support, automated Oracle VM Manager back-up and allows tagging of objects for faster identification of key groups.

Additional options include the 'Multi-select' of objects, at-a-glance health status, CPU usage and direct imports of virtual machines into an Oracle VM Manager environment.

The company has also introduced the Oracle VM Server for SPARC 3.0 that offers features including automated secure live migration, power management, and dynamic resource management.
