VMware, HP extend agreement to help customers move to private clouds

CBR Staff Writer Published 01 September 2010

Both companies join forces to integrated cloud infrastructure offering

VMware and HP have extended their agreement to deliver a new virtualisation offering, reference architectures and IT services to help customers accelerate cloud computing deployment and IT as a service.

Under the agreement, HP will provide consulting, integration and support services for customers deploying VMware virtualisation software within an HP converged infrastructure framework.

Both the companies are creating an integrated cloud infrastructure offering combining the new VMware vCloud Director with the HP BladeSystem Matrix and HP Cloud Maps, to help customers control and manage physical and virtual aspects of cloud infrastructure.

In addition, the new HP Insight Control extension for VMware vCenter server offers HP hardware management capabilities to virtualisation administrators, enabling monitoring, remote control and power optimisation directly from VMware vCenter server console.

VMware and HP will also develop reference architectures that deliver integrated, validated offerings for SMB, enterprise and cloud environments and client virtualisation.
