To address desktop virtualisation deployment in private and public clouds
Wyse Technology, a provider of cloud client computing, has unveiled Device Manager (WDM) 4.8, which is an enterprise-class management tool for cloud clients.
The company said that the new WDM 4.8 version adds key capabilities to address management requirements for virtual desktops in businesses and institutions, and reduce desktop support cost and minimise downtime.
The WDM 4.8 features autogenic imaging, which provides updates while thin clients are in use, eliminates risk of corruption due to network or power failure during updates, and works over LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and Fiber-NIC.
In addition, WDM 4.8 provides asset management and health monitoring for the new Xenith zero client, and support for Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 platforms.
Wyse Technology said that the new WDM 4.8 consists a filtered device views and a single advanced view configuration window, script builder utility, and supports fully qualified domain names (FQDN).
The company said that the WDM 4.8 comes in a Workgroup and Enterprise edition.
While Workgroup version is included at no extra charge with the purchase of a Wyse thin client and manages up to 750 clients, the Enterprise edition manages an unlimited number of clients and includes several additional features.
